Set Theory Symbols

Set notation from union and intersection through to power sets and cardinality, including the standard number sets ℕ, ℤ, ℚ, ℝ and ℂ.

How to use it

  • Search by symbol name, meaning or the glyph itself.
  • Click any symbol to copy it to your clipboard.
  • The example column shows the notation in use, not just its definition.

Questions people ask

How do I copy a symbol?

Click it. The symbol goes straight to your clipboard as plain Unicode text, so it pastes into Word, Google Docs, LaTeX, code or anywhere else.

Why does a symbol look different in my document?

These are plain Unicode characters, so they take on whatever font your document uses. If one shows as a box, that font has no glyph for it — switch to a font with wider coverage, such as DejaVu or Cambria Math.

Does this page need an internet connection?

Only the first time. The whole table is part of the page, and the service worker caches it, so it keeps working offline afterwards.
