Points per press is adjustable, which matters for games that award more than one point at a time — three for a win, five for a round, whatever the scoring system calls for — so you are not tapping the same button repeatedly to reach the right total.
Why it resets on refresh
Scores are not saved between sessions, and that is deliberate rather than a missing feature: a scoreboard should start clean for each new game, and persisting old scores from a finished match would be more likely to cause confusion than convenience. Keep the tab open for the duration of the game and it holds the running total reliably.
