CSS's green family spans soft, natural tones like PaleGreen (#98FB98) and MediumSeaGreen (#3CB371), the vivid pure Lime (#00FF00), and deep, muted shades like ForestGreen (#228B22) and DarkGreen (#006400). Note that CSS's Green keyword itself is a relatively dark #008000, not the bright colour most people picture — the brighter shade most people mean by “green” is actually Lime.
Green's default meaning
Green carries an almost universal association with success, confirmation and “go” — the mirror image of red's warning role — which makes it the conventional choice for success states, confirmation messages and completed steps in an interface. It is also, alongside blue, one of the two colours least affected by the most common red-green colour vision deficiency confusion when used against a contrasting background rather than paired directly with red.
