GPA Calculator
Calculate your grade point average from course credits and letter grades on the standard 4.0 scale, with the working shown.
How to use it
- Add a row for each course with its credit hours and letter grade.
- Grades map to points on the usual 4.0 scale — A is 4.0, B is 3.0 and so on.
- Add or remove rows freely; the GPA updates as you go.
Examples
| A×3, B+×4, A−×3 | GPA 3.63 |
GPA converts letter grades into points on a 4.0 scale and averages them, weighted by credit hours, so a 4-credit course counts for more than a 1-credit elective: GPA = Σ(credits × grade points) ÷ Σ credits. It's the single number transcripts, scholarship applications and grad school admissions actually compare, so getting the credit weighting right matters more than any individual grade.
Worked example
A×3 credits, B+×4 credits, A−×3 credits: grade points are A = 4.0, B+ = 3.3, A− = 3.7. GPA = (4.0×3 + 3.3×4 + 3.7×3) ÷ (3+4+3) = (12 + 13.2 + 11.1) ÷ 10 = 3.63. Notice the B+ course, despite the lowest grade, has the most credits — dragging the GPA down more than a low grade in a 1-credit class would.

Questions people ask
Does this handle weighted or honours courses?
Not automatically. If your school adds a point for AP or honours classes, enter the boosted grade points by picking the grade one step higher.
How do I calculate a cumulative GPA across semesters?
List every course from every semester in one go. Cumulative GPA is just the weighted average over all credits attempted.
Is anything sent to a server?
No. Every calculation runs in your browser, so nothing you type is uploaded and the page keeps working offline once it has loaded.
