Letter Grade to GPA Converter

Convert a percentage to a letter grade and a letter grade to GPA points, with the full 4.0-scale conversion table below.

Formula
A = 4.0, A− = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, B = 3.0 … F = 0.0

How to use it

  • Type a percentage to see the letter grade and points it maps to.
  • Or pick a letter grade to see its GPA value and percentage band.
  • The full table underneath is the standard US 4.0 scale.

Examples

88%B+ — 3.3 points
A−3.7 — 90 to 92%

This converts between the three ways a grade gets expressed — a raw percentage, a letter grade, and the GPA points that letter is worth — using the standard US 4.0 scale. It's the lookup you need whenever a transcript, application form or foreign grade needs translating into terms an admissions office expects.

Why the cut-offs aren't universal

Some schools set the A band at 90% instead of 93%, some award 4.3 for an A+, and grading scales outside the US (UK degree classifications, European ECTS, percentage-only systems) don't map onto 4.0 cleanly at all. Treat this table as the common default and check your own institution's handbook before submitting anything official.

Questions people ask

Is the 4.0 scale universal?

No. Percentage cut-offs vary by school and country, and some institutions treat A+ as 4.3. Use your own handbook where it differs from this table.

Is anything sent to a server?
