A stocktake with one counter gives you one number, and one number is almost never the answer — you need to know how many of each thing, not how many things in total. That's why this page opens with three named counters rather than one.

Counting in batches

Stock rarely arrives one at a time. Cases of twelve, trays of twenty-four, notes in bundles of fifty. Set the step to the batch size and each tap counts the whole batch — dramatically fewer taps and dramatically fewer chances to lose your place.

When a partial batch turns up, drop the step back to one for the remainder rather than doing the arithmetic in your head.

Counting cash

For a till or a float, one counter per denomination is the practical approach: name them 5, 10, 20, 50 and set each one's step to its own value. Each counter's total is then the money in that denomination rather than the number of notes, and the arithmetic is already done when you finish.

It's worth saying plainly that nothing here is uploaded — the counts stay in the browser on that device, which is the right property for anything to do with cash.

Not losing a count part-way

Every counter saves automatically — a locked screen or a closed tab doesn't lose the count
Undo steps back one at a time when you miscount, rather than resetting
Name each counter as you create it; unnamed counters are useless an hour later
Set a maximum when you're checking against an expected figure, and the remaining number does the reconciliation for you

As many as you need — add one per item, shelf or denomination. They're all saved independently.

Can I count in dozens or cases?

Yes. Set the step to the batch size and each tap counts a whole case.

Is my stock data sent anywhere?

No. Everything stays in your browser on your device. Nothing is uploaded or logged.
